Wonderful reader feedback
I have been fortunate to have received lots of very positive feedback from readers about my book: 'Running the Marathon with Cancer'. The following from a reader in Adelaide was particularly special and made me feel a little emotional:
"The book, wonderfully written, packs so many powerful messages that I was on an emotional roller-coaster while reading it (and that’s not counting the very informative medical accounts which, by the law of averages, could well be relevant one day either for myself or for a loved one).
The analogy that sprung to my mind over the first 5 chapters was that of climbing a mountain, thinking repeatedly that you are coming to the summit, only to find each time that there is yet another rise ahead of you. To have the perseverance and fortitude that you showed, in order to keep going, is in itself inspirational to anyone reading your account.
I found your analysis of causes, survival techniques and lessons learnt really thought-provoking, and just so pertinent and relevant to all of us. I enjoyed your writing style, well-balanced between the factual and the emotional, and with the occasional burst of humour when you were least expecting it.
Your book has had a profound influence on me, Doug, and thank you so much for sharing your journey in such an inspirational way."
